The Great Dictator, done before the Holocaust, was a parody on Adolph Hitler. Adenoid Hynkel the dictator of Tomania, and the story of a humble Jewish barber were both played Chaplin. At the end the barber was mistaken to be Hynkel, and is made to give a speech. So he does. Very interesting to actually hear Chaplin speak, by the way! I’ve only seen his actions, and I thought he didn’t have movies where he spoke. It was quite nice until the Hannah part, but that’s just because I’m confused by that.
